Support Jonathan Sanchez - Stroke Recovery

On January 28, 2019, my brother and best friend had a Hemorrhagic Stroke while at his home.  On that same morning, he was laid off from his job of 22 years working as Vice President of Operations of a small company in Illinois.  By the good grace of God a friend had needed a place to stay and was there in his home visiting, which was a blessing as they were able to contact emergency services to get him medical attention.  When an individual has any type of stroke, time is of the essence, because the longer it takes to receive medical treatment the more damage it will cause.  Jon’s stroke caused, by extremely high blood pressure, resulted in a blood vessel insidehis brain to burst.  By the end of the first day, the injury had grown to a little larger than the size of a baseball.  This caused severe damage, among other things, causing complete paralysis of the left side of his body as well as vision deficits in his left eye.

Jon has always been a loving, caring, and kind-heartedindividual by helping friends, family, and anyone he came across with anything they should need at that time.  He would offer them with a place to stay, food to eat, employment when needed, or other charity and advice as required.  He was devoted to and loved his job as well as all of the workers in the company doing whatever needed for the team to succeed.  He has never married or had children but that did not stop him from becoming my children’s Godfather and ensuring they will be taken care ofnow as well as in the future.  He spent every spare moment with them, sharing with them his love for family.  They love him dearly and are saddened by this event, praying for him to get well.  During my 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps he was my biggest advocate and one of my main supporters.  He not only supported me, but he was a big supporter of all the men and women fighting for this great country.  He made it a point to visit me at every duty station I had been ordered to, except for when I was deployed to combat.

Every year, more than 795,000 Americans have a stroke with only 13% of them being caused by a Hemorrhagic Stroke.  Jon’s recovery from this stroke is going to be a lengthy process requiring large amounts of rehab, patience, hard work, and commitment.  Jon has a fighter quality and I am sure he will overcome this injury.  However, with the length of rehabilitation being 6 months, 12 months, or longer it is going to be difficult as he has no employment and unable to gain substantial employment or medical insurance.

We are asking for any donations anyone may be able to spare to help provide money for medical insurance, medical expenses, a specialized transportation vehicle, medical equipment, and housing expenses.  I have taken it upon myself to start making improvements and additions to my home in the anticipation of receiving my brother back to my home.  If you know of anyone who has had a stroke, you know the difficulty and the financial burden can be throughout the rehabilitation process.  Every dollar donated will go to paying for any items for Jon to sustain and recover.  Thank you for your prayers and support!!
