John and Deb Hyter are caretakers. Currently serving as a chaplain at Lima Memorial Hospital, John was ordained as a pastor 50 years ago and has served 30 years in grief and trauma support. He is a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband of Deb. Deb has served with him every step of the way, and has been church secretary of SouthSide Christian Church for many years.

Now, at age 75, they are facing a challenge. John’s only brother has recently received a very serious health prognosis. He lives in Washington state, far from John and Deb’s home in Ohio. This couple spends their time and resources supporting others physically, emotionally, and financially, always putting the needs of others before their own. Their compassion and dedication have touched many lives in their community and beyond.
