Joey is the 14-year-old son of Jocelyn, who unexpectedly passed away on March 27, 2021. As his father passed away when he was 8, he will be cared for by his family.
As Joey was Jocelyn’s love of her life, the family is hoping others will consider donating to support Joey and his future. Any funds donated will go toward everyday living expenses, medical costs, sports and extracurricular activities, and most importantly, his college fund as no 529 plan was put into place before Jocelyn’s death. At the time of this writing, Joey has aspirations of studying mechanical engineering. He is currently in middle school and was on a recreation baseball team prior to COVID-19.

This fund was created by Carey Shook, Jocelyn's cousin. Joelle Jacobs, Jocelyn's sister, will be the beneficiary of this fund since Joey is a minor. Any money received will go into a 529, high-yield savings account for Joey's college fund.

Jocelyn Rebekah Jacobs, 34, passed away on March 27, 2021, at her home in Apex, NC. She was born in Charlotte, NC, to Russell Jake Jacobs, Jr. and Melinda Jacobs Shook on November 11, 1986.
First and foremost, Jocelyn was dedicated to being the best, loving, and caring mother to her son, Joey. She embraced her ever-growing relationships with God and her family. She constantly strived for happiness and had the unique ability for making people laugh in her own special way. You could always find her spending time with Joey or watching Disney movies with her sisters, Jasmine and Joelle. She loved taking care of people, especially her Grandmary, for whom she was caretaker for over a year. Jocelyn was artistic in every way, passionate about anything related to music, sketching and drawing, sign language, and DIY home decor. She also enjoyed spending time outside reading scripture and journaling, whether at the beach, mountains, or in the countryside.
Jocelyn is survived by a host of loving relatives: son Joseph Anthony Cahill, Jr; mother Melinda, father Russell, and stepfather James Burney Shook; siblings Jasmine Christina Jacobs McAndrew (Daniel), Joshua Daniel, Joelle Elise, Jennah Marie, Jordyn Timothy, Jeremy Kane, and Josiah Thomas; grandfather Russell Jacobs Sr.; nieces and nephews Cameron James Jacobs, Wyatt Jake McAndrew, Avery Dawn McAndrew, Savannah Jo McAndrew, and baby McAndrew due in July; and an abundance of loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. She is preceded in death by grandparents Patricia Jacobs, Gary Joe Johnson, Johannah JayDee Johnson, Edward Andrew Shook, Jr., and Mary Burney Shook.
The memorial service will be held at Apex Funeral Home at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to her son Joey’s gofundme.
