Two weeks ago, Jess was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with a severe and debilitating case of Crohn’s disease. During her stay at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, she also contracted C. diff and the CMV virus. She is still fighting the CMV infection and is currently receiving chemotherapy-based antiviral treatment. Although she has shown small signs of improvement, her recovery is slow and uncertain, with no clear timeline yet.

 Before her hospitalization, Jess was a full-time student at Capri College, working toward becoming a licensed massage therapist—something she is deeply passionate about. She balanced her studies with part-time work as a server at Midtown Station in Cedar Rapids, all while supporting herself and her young son, Henning, as a single mom. Living paycheck to paycheck, the sudden need to take a leave from both school and work has left her very worried about the months ahead.

 Jess hopes to return to her studies in May so she can build a more stable and secure future for her and Henning. In the meantime, she needs support so she can focus fully on healing. The funds raised will help Jess cover rent, groceries, and medical bills while she recovers and cares for Henning. If you are able to donate, it would mean the world to Jess and Henning.
