<div>As many of you already know, my sister Jessica suffered a life-altering MCA stroke on July 13th due to a blood clot. The stroke came on very suddenly, and as of today, there has been no explanation for why the clot occurred. Unfortunately, the damage has been catastrophic: Jess is currently paralyzed on the right side of her body, has experienced hearing and vision loss, and is unable to speak or eat.

<div>This week, Jess was moved from Grand Strand hospital to an inpatient rehabilitation facility, where she has started to receive specialized therapy aimed at helping her regain strength, mobility and the ability to communicate with us. Despite the many challenges she is facing, Jess remains a fighter, and she has maintained her warrior spirit (and sass) throughout this entire process.

<div>For a stroke survivor, the first 3 to 6 months are crucial for recovery, and Jess's road ahead will be long and difficult. She will most likely require months of specialized outpatient rehabilitation to regain as much function and independence as possible.
</div>

<div>Anyone who knows Jess will tell you that she is a caring and hard-working individual. She is always the first to lend a helping hand, share a raunchy joke, offer a listening ear, give a drink recommendation, or provide a shoulder to cry on. As a bartender, Jess's time off means a tremendous loss of income, leading to significant financial vulnerability during this critical time. Right now, she needs her community to rally for her in her greatest time of need.
