<div>If you’ve ever met Jenny Baeseman, you already know: she is a spark of brilliance wrapped in laughter, resilience, and fierce determination. A beloved friend, colleague, and internationally respected polar scientist, Jenny has spent her life lifting others—especially early career researchers—helping them find their voices, believe in themselves, and shape the future of polar science. She's mentored hundreds, challenged the status quo with humor and honesty, and brought joy and generosity to every room (and Zoom!) she's entered. Now, it’s our turn to support her.

<div>Jenny is preparing to undergo major brain surgery to treat a large aneurysm—affectionately named “Alfred”. Her diagnosis comes on the heels of beating cancer, and in true Jenny fashion, she’s facing this next challenge with strength, sarcasm, and just the right amount of sass. But this time, she needs a little help from her community. Recovery is expected to take at least 2 to 3 months, and during that time she’ll be unable to work. As an independent contractor, if Jenny doesn’t work, she doesn’t get paid—and we want her to focus fully on healing, without the pressure of financial strain. This fund will help give her a much-needed cushion so she can rest, recover, and return to the community that adores her.
