Recently, my husband developed a severe staph infection in his foot that quickly worsened and required emergency surgery. Unfortunately, part of his foot had to be amputated, and doctors say he won’t be able to walk for 6–8 months. He doesn’t have medical insurance, and the hospital bills, medications, and recovery costs are already overwhelming. I’m the sole provider for our family, and I’ll have to miss work to manage his care, help him recover, and make our home more accessible while he’s in a wheelchair. The money raised will go directly toward medical expenses, monthly bills, home adjustments, and the equipment he’ll need to come home safely—like a wheelchair, knee scooter, or other mobility aids.
