Jenna Dare is our 40 year old sister-in-law. She and our brother, Jonathan, have 4 children. Three are still at home. The oldest of those three is 21 years old. He was born with Down’s Syndrome, and requires 24/7 special care. The youngest children are 11 and 9.

They live on a farm an hour or more outside the city of Denver.

Jenna was diagnosed this year with undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma, a rare aggressive cancer.

Previously, before the final diagnosis, she had been to different doctors and was misdiagnosed.

Finally, between the months of May and June, she underwent 5 surgeries and procedures on her leg. The diagnosis from that was leiomyosarcoma.

After a recommendation was given to seek a second opinion (from a radiation doctor who previously specialized in sarcomas) Jenna’s final diagnosis came 2 weeks ago, undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma.

After undergoing more scans and tests at the second opinion appointment, the doctors urged Jenna ASAP to seek a 5-day round of chemo treatment due to fluid on her lung that had already collapsed due to the disease, and the diseased abdominal lymph nodes had also grown.

To date she has received chemo every day during a 5-day hospital stay, and one radiation treatment.

The doctors feel that these treatments were to get Jenna ‘out of the woods’, so that she has more time to process other treatment options that the sarcoma specialist may have for her.

The commute back and forth to appointments and the chemo and radiation treatments, are causing the medical bills to roll in steadily.

This is the reason we siblings wanted to start a fund to help with all of the expenses they are facing as Jenna goes through this cancer journey.
