My cousin Jason Kiefer—a hardworking father,  partner, and the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back—was rushed to Ephrata Hospital. Within hours, doctors discovered a perfect storm of life-threatening conditions: pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in his lungs), an enlarged heart, COVID-19, and evidence of a recent heart attack.

<div>The situation was so dire that Jason was immediately airlifted to a specialized facility in York, Pennsylvania—over 50 miles from his home in Honey Brook.
