<div>On Sept. 2, 2025 Jason called 911 and was admitted to HCMC. They had four surgeries for a severe perforated appendicitis. Almost three weeks later, they are still in the Surgical ICU, or SICU, and are being monitored daily for respiratory, digestive, physical, and occupational therapies.

<div>The cost of these surgeries and ongoing care in the United States will be astronomical, but thankfully Jason has health insurance. Jason’s out-of-pocket maximum is $15,000 which they have likely already hit given the severity of their condition.

<div>Jason is making progress in their recovery but they have no certain timeline for their release from the hospital, which means they are unable to work to pay for rent and other recurring bills. Recovery time at home is also unclear at this time.

<div>Jason is humbly asking for assistance in recouping the out-of-pocket maximum and some additional funds for groceries and other necessities as they get back on their feet.
