Jamie was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer the end of July 2018. Jamie just celebrated his 47th Birthday on August 10.
He is a wonderful Son to Aubrey and Lynda Smith, Brother to Stacy Smith, Husband to his beautiful wife Carla, Father to AJ, Heather, Savannah, Nathan and Morgan.
He became a Grandfather to AJ and Emmi's son Grayson last year and Nathan and Hannah's daughter Jayme this July.
Jamie has been a valued Project Manager at Griffco Design Build for near a decade, where he has made many a friend traveling through mainly Texas and Missouri!
He also has gained many close friends here at home, as his smiling face, quick wit and ability to always lend a helping hand, quickly makes everyone see what an asset to their lives Jamie is!
While there is no cure for Pancreatic Cancer, there are treatments to prolong life. Currently, Jamie is undergoing treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, GA., where he is participating in a Trial which uses Gemcitabine and a mushroom compound. This treatment extends his current prognosis of 6 months of longevity to a possible 18 months. Our hope is a cure will be found in the next few months.
Jamie and his wife travel the hour and 15 minutes back and forth to the Cancer facility daily for bloodwork and chemo treatments. While the near 3 hours of travel adds additional costs, they also have additional insurance co-pays and non- covered medical expenses.
Why a GoFundMe account?
Jamie has expressed concern as the sole financial contributor to he and Carla's household and the fact that his daughter Morgan is only 11 years old, that he would feel more at ease if he and Carla were able to be debt free, other than household expenses.
