Update: Jamian has been diagnosed with Dravet syndrome. Jamian had an almost 2 hour seizure today, (2/28/25) even when he has been on the anti seizure meds!
There must be something they haven’t found yet. He is currently in the St. George hospital but they are going to send them back to primary children’s hospital. He is really struggling. As you can imagine it’s been impossible for Martha and James to work (or sleep) at all while trying to care for Jamian and watch him 24/7 for seizures. They do have a rescue med that they can administer to pull him out of seizures but even the rescue meds didn’t work today.
His mom and dad (Martha and James) could really use help with travel expenses and life expenses while they try to figure out how to help their baby and how to stop these seizures!
Original post: A few months ago my sister Martha and her man, James Steed, had the cutest little baby Jamian! He’s almost 7 months old now.
He’s been a happy smiley little baby, but he started having seizures around 4 months old.
He has had several seizures in the last month and they usually happen when he’s asleep. He has had an EEG done and is now being sent to primary children’s for further testing and to find out what’s going on with him and if they can stop it. They will be traveling back and forth from southern utah to salt lake for all his appointments. As you can imagine, his parents aren’t able to sleep worth a heck right now because these seizures happen when Jamian is asleep so they are always on high alert. This also makes it pretty impossible for them to work normal hours right now. Us sisters are helping while we can and taking turns staying with Martha and watching baby Jamian while his parents try to sleep.
When he start seizing, if we can wake him up (which is really hard to do) they can snap him out of it. His seizure have ranged from 30 minutes long to two hours.
So this is me and my family asking for help from our extended family and our friends to help support Martha and James while they navigate through this scary time and take a little bit of financial stress off of them so they can focus on Baby Jamian and what he needs right now.
There’s a few ways to donate if you can!
If you can’t then please share!
