Support Jacqueline's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Family and Friends,
For those of you that may not know, our daughter Jacqueline (aka Jackie), was recently diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage 2B, a type of Breast Cancer, at age 34.
The positive news is Jacqueline's cancer is curable with treatment. Let’s all say that again, “Jackie’s Cancer is Curable”!
The next year will be spent aggressively treating her cancer . She will need months of Chemotherapy, Hormonal Therapy and then a Bilateral Mastectomy.
So many family and friends have reached out to ask "how I can help", "how can we support Jackie", "what can we do?"
As you may know, Jackie became a Registered Nurse in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, spending the first part of her career caring for some of the sickest patients this world has seen. Her tenacity during this time only serves to show the grit that Jackie has to survive her diagnosis.
Our mission as a family is to support her and her partner, Jose (Gordo) Santos, in all areas as they move through this journey towards recovery.
The one issue that materialized is that Jackie does not qualify for Family Medical Leave of Absence, FMLA. As she does not meet the Federal standard to qualify for FMLA, she will have to be out on a Personal leave, which means to keep her insurance, she has to pay her weekly premiums out of pocket as well as other coinsurance and copays. As you can imagine, having insurance during this journey will be key to her survival.
I know people want to send food, gas cards, gift cards, etc. to Jackie and Gordo. We love that about all of you and are so grateful. We have thought long and hard about a simple way for people to help. As such, a “gofundme” account for Jackie has been created. This will allow a simple, convenient and one stop place for Jackie to manage any gifts received. This will help her and Gordo to focus on supporting each other, healing from treatments and moving forward on her road to recovery and not focusing on the expense of healing.
The Peloquin family is ever grateful for all the love and support that you have already provided to all of us and Jackie as we help Jackie on her journey. We know we are blessed to have such an amazing community of humans who are part of our lives.
Thank you in advance for all your support, love and kindness during this time. Please feel free to share the links with those that we may have not been able to reach.
For updates on her journey, you may contact Melissa Peloquin for access to the portal.
