Hello, my name is Jacob. I am currently hospitalized with kidney failure due to a bad infection that I got from my insulin pump. The antibiotics that they had me on caused my kidneys to fail.

I have currently been out of work for about three weeks now, and so I can file a short-term disability claim, but I'm being told that it might not be approved for at least one month if it is approved. I don't get paid the back payment for the three weeks prior to filing the claim.

I'm currently in college for Human Services. I work as a housing navigator at a homeless shelter, and I love my job and I miss my job. I would like to go back to my job. I was told that hopefully after two or three courses of dialysis, my kidneys should start working again, but they have not. So now I have to go from a temporary dialysis catheter to a permanent dialysis catheter, and I have to go three times a week to do dialysis, four hours at a time. I am unsure of when I will be able to return to work.

I would greatly appreciate any help to help me pay for my rent, car payment, insurance, and food to feed myself and my dog, along with the gas money it'll take to get to the appointments. I was told my kidneys might not recover or could take up to a year to start working again. I plan on going back to work ASAP, but I just need a little help till then.
