Iyonti Smith is a loving mother to her 3-year-old daughter, Ny’Layah, daughter to Ida Danielle’s, and a sister. Iyonti is a bright light to everyone who knows her. She is the kind of person who brings good energy everywhere she goes, always ready with a joke or a way to uplift someone. During FAMU Homecoming, while enjoying the evening with her sister, Iyonti was shot in the back of her neck. The bullet traveled into her jaw. She started in critical condition, but by the grace of God she is now having surgery in Gainesville, Florida. Although this has been a miracle in many ways, her recovery will be long and difficult. Iyonti will need to wear a neck brace for at least 3 months, and during that time she will not be able to work.

As Iyonti heals, the financial pressure will not stop. Support will help with her medical bills, household bills, care for Ny’Layah, and the everyday assistance she will need while recovering. These are ongoing needs that will continue over the next few months while Iyonti is unable to work, and steady support can help bring some stability for her daughter during this time. Recurring donations can help her family keep up with these continuing essentials week after week, and one-time gifts are also deeply appreciated and will help ease some of the burden right away. Please consider supporting Iyonti Smith and her family during this recovery. Any amount, no matter how small, will help lift some of the weight from her shoulders and remind her that she is not facing this alone.
