<div>Unfortunately, my husband was deported to El Salvador a month ago, however<strong> he is not free </strong>because the Salvadoran regime continues to criminalize him, and he is being held in a prison under investigation, even though he has no criminal record in his country of origin and he had no pending legal matters in the US other than his immigration related ones so it is completely unjust for him to now be in a Salvadoran prison where I am concerned about his safety. The government of El Salvador implemented a repression called a <strong>"state of exception"</strong> and my husband is a victim right now, as are many other Salvadorans who have been deported, as you can read in this note "<a href="https://www.ncronline.org/news/salvadorans-worry-us-deportations-collide-el-salvadors-gang-crackdown" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Salvadorans worry as US deportations collide with </a>El Salvador's gang crackdown".  We continue to ask for your support so that my husband can have a lawyer to represent him and be free and safe. I continue to ask for your support to cover the costs of a lawyer who can help us free my husband and ensure his safety.

<div>Hello, my name is Ivonne Castro. The lives of my family changed in April 2025 when my husband, Roberto Castro, was detained one morning at our home. We noticed a few days before that there were suspicious people in cars around our home. The morning when my husband was detained, I was stopped while I was in my car. They asked me questions about my household and then went to my house to detain my husband while our children were with him. It was a horrible and painful moment for us and especially for our children. Since then, my husband has been removed from our family. We have four children together who are 8, 4, 3, and 1 year old, and I have three more children who my husband loves like his own. Our family has been separated since April 2025. Our children miss their father, and I miss my life partner who is a kind man, cares for his family, and helps me with our children. Our 3-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with autism, and not having my husband with us impacts us not just financially but emotionally as he is an important part of the support our children need.

<div>We had fought for him to stay in the country; however, his appeal has been denied in court a few days ago, and the judge ordered his deportation. This news has devastated our family for many reasons. These past months have been so difficult for me, as I suddenly became the head of the house, the main provider for our family, and I am also taking care of my husband's father who needs dialysis. I work as a caregiver and house cleaner. I need two jobs to barely have what we need, plus the expenses to send money to my husband to be able to call us and buy food. <strong>I am asking for your support to our family, to help me ensure I can pay the rent for the next 4 months so my children have a secure place to live, to cover other household expenses, and support my husband in his transition once he is deported.</strong> Any donation you can provide will mean the world to us at this time.

Sin embargo, <strong>no es libre,</strong> ya que el régimen salvadoreño continúa criminalizándolo y se encuentra detenido en una prisión bajo investigación, a pesar de no tener antecedentes penales en su país de origen ni asuntos legales pendientes en Estados Unidos, aparte de los relacionados con su inmigración. Es completamente injusto que ahora esté en una prisión salvadoreña, donde me preocupa su seguridad. El gobierno de El Salvador implementó una represión denominada <strong>"estado de excepción",</strong> y mi esposo es una víctima, al igual que muchos otros salvadoreños deportados, como pueden leer en esta nota "<a href="https://www.ncronline.org/news/salvadorans-worry-us-deportations-collide-el-salvadors-gang-crackdown" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Salvadoreños preocupados porque las deportaciones</a>". Esta noticia ha devastado a nuestra familia por muchas razones. Estos últimos meses han sido muy difíciles para mí, ya que de repente me convertí en la cabeza de familia, la principal fuente de sustento de la familia, y también estoy cuidando al padre de mi esposo, quien necesita diálisis. Trabajo como cuidadora y limpiadora de casas.
