Support Iris Moua's Fight Against Burkitt's Lymphoma

On October 19, 2024, our world was turned upside down for our kind-hearted, empathetic, ambitious, and shy, 19-year-old, Iris Moua. While attending Fresno State to fulfill her dreams of becoming an Elementary School Teacher, Iris became suddenly ill.

What we thought would be a standard ER visit turned into a shocking and heart-breaking discovery. Iris’ body had developed a 14 cm (about 5.51 in) tumor in her uterus, and more were found in her right ovary and fallopian tube. Iris underwent immediate surgery to remove her tumors. Iris remained in the hospital, and two days following, the devastating news was delivered: Iris had Burkitt’s lymphoma—a rare, aggressive, life-threatening form of non-Hodgkin blood cancer. This diagnosis has forced Iris to put her dreams and plans on hold as she valiantly engages in the fight of her life.

As anyone can imagine, the emotional strain is indescribable beyond words. We are at a loss knowing the encompassing pain to follow. Her treatment plan involves intense chemotherapy administered through her spine. Iris remains hospitalized as doctors monitor whether the cancer has spread into her central system, including her brain and spinal cord. As she continues to fight with all her strength, the costs of treatment, medications, and ongoing care are rapidly increasing. The simple reality is that the financial strain on Iris and her family has been overwhelming.

In addition to the mounting medical expenses, Iris had to withdraw from Fresno State and step away from her part-time job. This campaign is designed to help her cover these unexpected medical costs and lost wages so she can focus entirely on her recovery without the additional stress of financial insecurity. She has a long road to recovery.

As anyone who knows Iris can attest, she brings a positive and shining light to everyone she meets. She is sweet, wholesome, family-oriented, spiritual, and dedicated to her goals. Iris is patient, soft-spoken, and gentle with everyone she encounters, especially with her baby brother, Zane. Zane treats Iris like a second mommy. Iris marches to the beat of her own drum, embraces life with a carefree spirit, and puts her heart into everything she does. Once she sets her mind on something, she pushes herself to excel and never quits – no matter how scary it is. Because of these qualities, she has shown incredible strength and resilience, determined not to give up. Iris wipes her tears, sticks her chin up, and holds onto her mommy’s hands every night in the hospital bed knowing that with everyone’s love, positive energy, encouragement, and support anything is possible.

We humbly ask for your support on this journey. Any contribution, whether small or big, will make an enormous difference during this incredibly challenging time for our family. Please share her story and keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
All donations raised will go directly to Iris Moua.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your time, love, and support.
