Hi, I’m Indigo! As my years of being a high school student come to an end, I’ve done much thinking about college and my near-future plans. After 12 years of hard work—graduating as valedictorian, earning 21 college credits, taking multiple AP classes, receiving the AP Scholar Award, and being inducted into the Pike County Hall of Fame for my ACT score—I’m ready for a new chapter.

After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to take a gap year to travel and explore Europe, practice my German, and gain cultural knowledge and experiences. It was a difficult decision, but I’ve realized I need to prioritize my mental health and personal needs before I’m ready to begin this next chapter of my life at college.

While this has been a lifelong dream of mine, the journey isn’t just about traveling—it’s about personal growth, finding my sense of self and who I want to be, and prioritizing my mental, emotional, and physical health so I can better prepare myself for the journey ahead. I need this time to find myself, gain new perspectives, and figure out where I want to go with the next chapter of my life.
