Support Indigenous Led Sustainability at the NEST

Donation protected
Nearly 9 years in the making, the NEST is the first sustainably built, Indigenous-led community arts center in California. By donating to this unique project, you are directly funding a space for artists of all kinds to collaborate and create. Our cob visual arts studio, the first of our permanent buildings, provides a home for Seventh Native American Generation (SNAG) Magazine, but additional funding will allow for a second building to house SNAG offices, music and dance studios, holistic healing space, and artist housing. With your support we will be able to complete our cob visual arts studio this fall, installing doors, radiant heat, earthen floors, plumbing, roof and water catchment, and a solar power system.

Our newest issue of SNAG Magazine, "Reclaiming Land" will feature articles and artwork exploring revitalization and reclamation. Articles from the frontlines of Wet-su-weten, the fight to protect tribal lands in Northern British Columbia from the coastal gas link pipeline, what tribes in the southwest are doing to Protect Bears Ears (Chaco Canyon) and their sacred sites from extraction and fracking, and an update of the Mauna Kea movement, a Hawai’ian sacred site and the movement to protect the largest mountain in the world from the proposed TMT telescope. Additionally, we’re featuring the work of Dancing Earth, Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture Institute and Alas De Agua Art Collective. We’re also including an update from the NEST Community Arts Center, our cob visual arts studio and medicinal plant garden, and the plans for developing the site as a permanent home for SNAG magazine. Reclaiming Land will be released Nov 2020.

We are Grateful for the 250+ community members who volunteered to help build our cob visual arts studio. We are so thankful to be supported by hundreds of community donors through our crowdfunder, and through individual donations. In the last 2 years we raised over 26,000 to make this dream possible, no grants, no corporate sponsors, just people powered support. We are calling on our community once again to finish our cob house, thank you for considering a contribution, a little goes a long way, thank you, yah we!
