Support Indigenous Families of Panama

January 6th, 2023 Chandler Crouch and Julian Parisi will be traveling back to Panama and will bring health care related supplies to donate to the community. This year's supplies include:

Toothbrush & Toothpaste

Reading glasses

Home water filters

Disposable masks

Contraceptives

Asprin and fever reducers

Antibiotic ointment

Antiseptic for wound care

Household solar light equipment

School Supplies and uniforms

This community, where Chandler served for two years in the US Peace Corps, is located on an indigenous reservation in western Panama. The community is home to around 150 people living as subsistence farmers and fishermen. Families operate on only $5 per day for staples like sugar, coffee, and rice to supplement their farm. They rely on the Panamanian government for medical support, which is not consistent. There is a local elementary school with about 30 students, and most teens and working adults travel in and out each week to the nearby city by water taxi.

Last year, we raised over $1,500 to provide missing healthcare-specific items due to financial limitations brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic. We successfully handed off 45 individual family unit packages to the community leaders, who then distributed them out.
