We honor the memory of Darrell Simmonds. He was a beloved member of Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation and was a counselor at Cherry Tree Elementary Extended School Enrichment Program. Darrell was an up-and-coming author. Some of his works include his Empress Series, under the pseudonym J.V. Simms. He had a one-of-a-kind talent for storytelling. During a story time with the children, he acted out the entire Star Wars trilogy from beginning to end and even performed the individual voices of each character.

In his free time, he enjoyed playing Minecraft with his nephew. Before he was an author, he worked for a time as a line cook, where he perfected his talent for cooking. Darrell had a great sense of humor, once impersonating an FBI agent as part of a grandiose telephone prank on his mother, Valeska Simmonds.

Darrell will be remembered fondly and his memory will leave a lasting impact on everyone that knew him.
