Many children and youth in Kitui County, Kenya, have never used a computer. Most schools lack access to laptops, the internet, or digital training. Yet these young people are eager to learn, innovate, and build better futures. We, Patrick and Anita, are the co-founders of CodeKwanza CBO, a community-based organization working to close this digital gap by bringing tech education to underserved communities in Kitui. We’re building Kitui’s first tech hub, a safe, inclusive space where children and youth can access laptops, the internet, mentorship, and hands-on training in digital skills. Some students currently attend our online classes using borrowed or faulty phones, but their determination inspires us daily. At CodeKwanza, we train youth in basic computer packages, coding, data analysis, web development, and soon, play-based coding for children aged 6 and above. This hub will also offer life skills, career guidance, volunteer opportunities, and scholarships to help young people grow professionally and personally.
With your support, we can:
- Buy laptops (approx. $300 each).
- Set up the internet and power.
- Equip the classes with desks, chairs, and learning materials.
- Run free and subsidized training sessions.
- Offer scholarships to youth who cannot afford to pay.
- Reach even more children in remote areas through outreach programs.
Here’s how your donation makes a difference:
$5 – Provides printed learning materials for one student
$10 – Covers one day of internet access for the hub
$25 – Sponsors one week of training for a student
$50 – Supports a scholarship for one young learner
$100 – Helps us train students at a partner school
$300 – Buys a laptop for community use at the hub
Every contribution, whether big or small, helps us bridge the digital divide and create new futures. Please donate today and help us bring this dream to life.
