Support Immigrant Solidarity Defense - RRRN

Donation protected
The Rochester Rapid Response Network  is an ally group formed to support immigrants facing detention or deportation by engaging in community-based strategic actions and public education guided by directly-affected immigrant families.

RRRN collaborates with other organizations and individuals, including faith communities, racial justice groups, and advocacy organizations in order to carry out its mission.

RRRN formed in the Fall of 2017 in response to the political climate and detainment of immigrants in our community. Since then, as a completely volunteer-run organization with no operating budget, we have:

- Provided family support for 17 people targeted by immigration enforcement.
- Court accompaniment in support of 8 individuals in removal proceedings.
- Held 15 public events and press events to raise public awareness for individual cases and broader immigration policy issues.

Now more than ever, RRRN serves a major gap in the greater region by supporting undocumented families at risk of detention and deportation where few other support systems exist.

RRRN is urgently seeking help to increase our capacity and sustain the work we do.

Most recently, we are supporting a mother and three young children affected by an ICE raid in Albion, NY in which the father was detained first.
(Video here of plain clothes ICE agents after failed attempt to break into house without a warrant to take mother from children.)

However, family support for those affected by immigration enforcement is just one portion of our greater programmatic work which is housed within a commitment to systematic change and advocacy.

Some of our additional work that we would like support in sustaining:

- Training rural communities in rapid response strategies, protocols, and roles.
- Proving basic material support for families affected by immigration enforcement.
- Leading strategic campaigns for sanctuary policies and practices in the greater upstate region.
- Ending Border Patrols unlawful searches and detainments in our communities.
- Working to end collaboration or the disentanglement between local law enforcement and immigration agencies in our communities, we know that a safe and secure community is one in which residents are not afraid of the local police.
- Sustaining our monthly strategic planning meetings.
