A 23-year-old who attended St. Augustine University was among those injured after shots were fired in an area known for nightlife in Columbia, South Carolina, in March police say. Saint Augustine University released a statement saying Howard Boone Jr. is a "high achieving" criminal justice major from Raleigh and was visiting the area with friends. “The University continues to pray for Mr. Boone and his family, said Saint Augustine’s University president, Dr. Everett B. Ward. “Mr. Boone is a model student and well respected among his peers.”University officials said Boone is a member of the school's Reserve Officer Training Corps and received his airborne certification last year. He hopes to join the U.S. Army upon graduation.
Howard is home! He is undergoing in-home physical and occupational therapy with his mother, Sheraldine Whitley Lewis. Funds donated will be used to support daily in home 24 hour care and transportation. Funds are urgently needed to support Howard and his family.
