Jade and Henri's Sustaining Fund

Hello friends and family!
Recently, Henri Etta Fair, the wonderful mother of Jade Fair was diagnosed with breast cancer. Henri is turning 70 this year and is a single parent to her only child Jade. Currently Henri is preparing for a single mastectomy on March 12th followed by a two week recovery time and at least 3 rounds of chemo.
Jade will be forgoing full-time employment to move in and be the primary caretaker for her mother over the coming months. This beautiful family of two are going to need our support and prayers now more than ever. Even with private health insurance, the costs of treating cancer in the US is exorbitant, and many patients cannot access the life-saving treatments they need simply because they cannot pay for it.
It is our hope and goal that finances be the least of Henri and Jade's worries as they move forward, getting the care they need.
Henri has lived many lives in her 70 years. She is a clarinet and ukelele player, track and field athlete, classic movie film buff, a sister, a daughter, a mother, a survivor of homelessness, and a veteran and an aircraft sheet metal repair person in the US Airforce, serving as the only Black woman to become a lead mechanic in her metal shop in 1972. It is because of her veteran status that she is able to access medical care through the VA in Los Angeles.
She had Jade in 1989. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, her husband died. This left Henri as a single mother, caring for Jade and her grandmother Lucinda. Henri took care of her mother until she passed away and this left a lasting impression on Jade on the strength of maternal connection and caring for one's elders and ancestors, which informs who she is today in the form of her art practice which takes on the complexities of these themes in the lives of Black women.
Jade is an herbalist, visual artist and event organizer who is deeply embedded in the communities she is apart of, and much like Henri, shares her spirit freely with an open-heart as a matter of practice and principle.
Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family. All funds raised will be going directly towards supporting the health and wellness of Henri and Jade as they go through this journey together.
Your generosity, prayers, and support are greatly appreciated.
