Help Us Recover from Hurricane Helene
Hi friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Heather Fender, and I’m reaching out for help after my partner Addie’s and my home was devastated by Hurricane Helene this October. A massive tree fell on the house in Hendersonville, NC, destroying the roof and causing significant water damage to four rooms. Since then, we’ve been fighting to make the house livable again, but we’ve hit a financial wall.
The storm damage has been compounded by delays and underwhelming support from our insurance company. While they’ve provided some funding, it’s far from enough to cover the costs of necessary repairs. We are currently $10,000 to $15,000 short of what we need to replace the roof and repair the walls, ceilings, and floors in the affected areas.
The house remains unsafe, and the winter months have only made things more urgent. That’s why we’re humbly asking for your help to bridge the gap and rebuild what Hurricane Helene took from us.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
- Replacing the roof to prevent further damage.
- Restoring the damaged rooms, including walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Tree and debris removal.
- Electrical repairs not covered by the insurance.
- Financing for Addie's car (which broke down during all this).
We’ve done everything we can—documenting every interaction with the insurance company, filing complaints, and advocating for fair support—but the resources just aren’t enough.
