Hi, my name is Hannah. Im 28 years old and am currently seeking help to fund expenses to travel back and forth from Chicago in order to get a Retinal Detachment surgery. In December 2023, i was diagnosed with Proliferative Diabetic Retinoparhy in both eyes. Ive been doing eye injections, lasers, and undergoed surgery on my left eye August 23, 2024, to stabilize my retina. But now in my right eye, its starting to completely detach and is in serious trouble. My doctor feels it is in my absolute best interest for a 2nd opinion as he put it and needs me to go to the University of Illinois Specialty Care. They are a new walk in clinic(can also do appointments) that do same day surgeries if i can get there before 2pm but that's not always the case. They could tell me to come back the next day for it. I live 3.5 hours away from Chicago and that back and forrh would be lots of gas money, food, etc. If i would have to potentially come back the next day, a hotel stay would be needed. What im asking is for help to get me there, gas, food, hotel stay if needed because hotels in Chicago are $$$$. This surgery is the only thing keeping me from losing my vision and becoming blind. I have a 2 almost 3 year old daughter that needs me and id love to be able to see grow. Thank you to anyone in advance . your help is very much appreciated!!
