My name is Gary Davis. I've had the privilege of coaching with Greg Willis of the Colorado Hawks for many years, and while his professional accomplishments are impressive, it's his personal character that truly defines him. What the records don't show is the immense personal sacrifice Greg has made for this program and these kids. This has never been about money for him; in fact, it has come at a significant personal cost. I have personally witnessed him put countless miles on his own vehicles, picking up and dropping off kids to ensure they never missed practice or school. More importantly, when a family was struggling, Greg would quietly pay medical bills, food, beds, and clothes out of his own pocket. For him, the rule was simple: no child would ever be left behind because they didn't have a ride or didn't have the means at home to participate.

In 1996, Coach Greg Willis became the Co-Founder of Colorado Youth program, the Colorado Hawks. He started program to get kids in college. He felt education made the playing field level in life. He used sports as the magnet to bring kids into the program. But it was mandatory they maintained high GPAs in order to stay in the program. For the past 30 years, Greg and Denise have spent every spare dollar on kids without ever taking a salary or a single cent out of the program. They funded the program from grants and money from Greg's retirement. Greg and Denise extended their experience and co-founded Accelerated Prep with a business partner. The business partner ran into financial difficulty and couldn't help anymore. Greg was stuck with 10 kids and all their expenses. Accelerated needed additional funding so Greg took a 2nd mortgage on their home for a line of credit in the name of Accelerated Prep with the hopes they could raise enough money to fund the shortfall. The loan is due in full for Accelerated Prep in December 2025. Greg fell ill with medical bills now exceeding a half million dollars and now cannot afford the 2nd mortgage. They now need help.

Over the years, Greg and Denise spent their savings and retirement accounts on providing for family's needs, food for families from the Rocky Mountain Food Bank or purchasing food from local grocery stores. They placed hundreds of kids in colleges through scholarships while paying for tutors and counseling. They have housed kids paying out their own pockets since starting the program over 30 years since its conception. They are now faced with losing their home, which they have owned since 1983. Financially speaking, it is the only asset they have, and this would be a disaster. Greg’s and Denise’s self-sacrifice have helped hundreds of kids. They now need our help.
