Our dear friend and respected shifu, Gray Cassidy, unexpectedly passed away about four weeks ago. Gray did not have a family and died alone in his home. Gray was a devout Catholic who attended mass regularly. He had mentioned to a few friends that he wanted to have a Catholic funeral.
We, as friends, colleagues, and students of Gray, started this campaign to ask for your financial contribution to help us give Gray a proper funeral and burial.
With your contributions so far, we have arranged a Catholic funeral that Gray would have wanted. A big "thank you" shoutout to Holyrood Catholic Cemetery for donating a burial plot and services, with an estimated value of $3900. We would not have been able to pull this all off without Holyrood and your generous donations.
While we have surpassed the amount we need for a Catholic burial, we still need additional funds for a grave marker. Please continue to share this fundraising campaign with your family and friends. If we raise more money than we need, we will donate the extra funds to Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Gray's name.
We have created a separate checking account with BECU to withdraw the funds to. However, our account was flagged for review by GoFundMe, we will not receive the funds in time to pay directly from this checking account to Bauer. We will be paying out of our personal account and then reimburse ourselves once the withdrawal is successful. Our hope was to keep everything separated and easily auditable, but due to our inexperience, it is not possible.

Please join us and invite your friends and family to join us to remember and pay tribute to Gray. All are welcome. You do not have to be a Catholic to attend any of the funeral services. You also do not need to RSVP to attend. However, if we know the approximate number of attendees, it would help us in our planning. Additionally, we need some volunteers, such as pallbearers, for the funeral mass and committal service. If you can RSVP or sign up to volunteer, please do so here.
