SUPPORT GOLETA VALLEY SOUTH LITTLE LEAGUE
Dear Friends of Baseball and Goleta Valley South Little League:
The past year has been challenging for our local Little League in so many ways. The Covid closures and low 2021 registration numbers greatly impacted the financial security of the League. A lack of funding caused an inability to maintain the fields, especially the Junior Field. I am initiating this Go Fund Me campaign to raise funds to repair and improve the GVSLL Junior Field. The Junior Field is not only used by GVSLL, but also by men's adult baseball, Coastal Cubs/Santa Barbara Grizzlies and San Marcos High School Baseball. The wear and tear is immense.
As a community of baseball families, alumni, and fans, I hope we can come together to make financial contributions to the field that means so much to us. Here is a list of Junior Field projects I hope to fund through your donations:
· Foul Ball Backstop Fencing - This fencing has several large gaps in the chain-link which can cause severe injury to bystanders if a ball flies through.
· Batting Cage – The junior batting cage needs maintenance including new hitting mats, repairing large holes in the safety netting, safety wraps for poles, etc.
· Field Maintenance – The Junior field needs its annual seeding, weed abatement, fertilization, and tree trimming including outfield trees.
· Pitcher’s Mound – Clay and bricks for the pitcher’s mound and batter's box need to be purchased on a regular basis.
· L-Screens and safety nets need to be updated.
· Infield dirt – GV needs to purchase two truckloads of infield dirt (approximately 26 tons each truck) for use on all three fields. The Junior field itself needs a minimum of one truckload.
The attached pictures show some of the areas we seek to improve which include, but are not limited to, leveling the field to avoid dangerous disparities in elevation between the grass and base paths, fences protruding onto the field where kids can run into them, damaged wind screens, gopher erosion.
