The bullet caused serious damage to muscle and blood vessels, and he had to be rushed into emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and save his leg. Dad will now be facing a long recovery—weeks of hospital care, follow-up procedures, and months of physical therapy just to regain the ability to walk comfortably again.
