<div>El martes 5 de noviembre, mi mamá, Gisela, sufrió un aneurisma mientras estaba en el trabajo. Uno de sus compañeros la encontró inconsciente y me avisaron de su accidente mientras yo también estaba trabajando. Después de recoger a mi hermano, corrimos a la sala de emergencias, donde nos informaron de su estado crítico. Fue trasladada en helicóptero a otro hospital en Georgia para ser tratada por un cirujano neurointervencionista. Allí le diagnosticaron una hemorragia subaracnoidea, y fue llevada de inmediato a cirugía, la cual, agradecemos profundamente, fue un éxito.

<div>Mi papá, que estaba trabajando en Michigan, pidió permiso para irse tan pronto como se enteró de su condición. Fue despedido de su trabajo ante la probabilidad de que estaría fuera varios días, si no semanas. Luego manejó sin parar durante 14 horas hasta Georgia para poder estar con ella.

<div>Desde entonces, Gisela ha estado recuperándose gracias al equipo médico, que ha sido de lo más atento y dedicado que podríamos pedir. Afortunadamente, ha permanecido estable, y nos dan buenas noticias sobre su recuperación, pero lo que le sucedió fue muy serio, y el camino que nos espera es largo y difícil. Se estima que pasará al menos 21 días en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neurológicos, con aún más tiempo dedicado a su recuperación y rehabilitación después de eso.

<div>Decir que Gisela es una persona trabajadora y cariñosa es quedarse corto. Siempre se preocupa por los demás, especialmente por mí, mi hermano, mi papá y nuestra perrita, a quienes no duda en expresar su profundo amor. Siempre ha estado dispuesta a ser quien pierda algo si eso significa que alguien más pueda tenerlo. Es una hermana, madre, esposa y amiga maravillosa, y no puedo expresar la tristeza que siento al verla pasar por esto.

<div>Ahora, con ambos padres sin poder trabajar en el futuro cercano, será extremadamente difícil para nosotros mantener los gastos del hogar y los costos médicos que vienen. He estado ayudándolos financieramente desde hace un tiempo, pero mi ingreso no será suficiente para cubrir todo lo que necesitaremos en las próximas semanas, meses e incluso años.

<div>On Tuesday, November 5th, my mom, Gisela, suffered an aneurysm at work. She was found unresponsive by one of her coworkers, and I was notified of her accident while at work as well. After picking up my brother, we rushed to the ER where we were told about her critical state. She was then airlifted to a different hospital within the state of Georgia, where she'd be treated by a neurointerventional surgeon. She was then diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage and was immediately taken in for surgery, which we're beyond grateful was a success.

<div>My father, who was in Michigan for work, requested permission to leave as soon as he learned about her condition. He was then dismissed from his job, predicting he'd be out for several days, if not weeks. He then proceeded to drive 14 hours non-stop to Georgia so he could be with her.

<div>Since then, Gisela has been recovering thanks to the help of the most attentive and hardworking medical staff we could ask for. She's thankfully remained stable, and we're given good news of her recovery, but what happened to her was still quite serious, and the road ahead of us is a long and bumpy one. It's estimated she will be spending at least 21 days in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit, with even more time dedicated towards recovery and rehabilitation thereafter.

<div>To say Gisela is a hardworking and loving person is to put it mildly. She's always looking out for others, particularly myself, my brother, my father, and our dog, all of whom she's not shy to express loving deeply. She's always been willing to be the person losing something if that means someone else will have it instead. She's a wonderful sister, mother, wife, and friend, and I am nothing short of devastated to see this happening to her.

<div>With now both of my hardworking parents being out of work for the foreseeable future, it will be extremely difficult for us to keep up with living expenses and upcoming medical bills. I've been assisting them financially for some time as well, but my income will not be nearly enough to cover everything we'll be in need of in the upcoming weeks, months, and even years.

We will be covering rent, transportation, food, utilities, and all upcoming medical expenses with any amount donated.
