Gerald is a 5-6 yr old cat that has been stray in our neighborhood for at least two years.
Around eight months ago he showed up on our porch skinny and asking for food.
It took a while for him to trust us, but now he loves attention (and treats).
We were previously unable to bring him inside due to our indoor cat, but due to recent events we now have no choice.
On Tuesday Feb. 4th Gerald went missing and did not return until early evening on the 6th. When he returned it was immediately obvious that something wrong with his left back leg.
Gerald received X-rays and pain medication at the ER that evening and it turns out his femur is broken in two and he is going to need his leg amputated.
He is in surprisingly good spirits and is on cage rest with a cozy blanket, meds, and snacks.
The biggest hardship we are facing with all of this is cost. We have already spent almost $1,500 between the ER visit and establishing him care at a vet.
We were hoping that because he started life as a community stray that the community might be willing to help with the surgery bills.
Please consider donating to Gerald. He's a friendly guy who loves forehead kisses and eating all of the treats and he deserves a pain free life after living on the street.
We're hoping that $1,200 will cover the amputation surgery (estimated $873) and any small things that come up.
Thank you
