Support Georgetown Charities

The families of Georgetown city and county are in need!

I am a citizen of Georgetown County, South Carolina. I am fully disabled: legally blind, double leg amputee, and a dialysis patient. Consequently,  I understand the difficulties experienced by the people that require special assistance. I refuse, however, to allow my limitations to keep me from doing as much as I can to help other people.

The goal of this fundraising effort is to support the health and welfare of the families in Georgetown who need assistance.

The funds will be divided amongst charities that serve the city and county areas of Georgetown, such as:

Miss Ruby's Kids - Miss Ruby’s Kids is a non-profit early literacy program serving families living in Georgetown County.

Habitat for Humanity, Georgetown  - Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Salvation Army, Georgetown - The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Black River United Way, Georgetown - The mission of the Black River United Way is to improve our community's capacity to care for one another. Our vision is to be a leader that leads our community to successfully address human needs and improve quality of life for all.

Georgetown County Boys Mentor Group - The three pillars of the organization are Character, Commitment, and Career. Using these three elements, we hope to raise the self- esteem levels of young men and highlight the importance of good character, which is the foundation of commitment and career. Having students meet and interact with successful men from the community on a weekly basis is the cornerstone of the vision.

Daughters of Sarah (St. Paul A.M.E. Church - Oatland) - Four years ago, the Daughters of Sarah was formed to continue the purpose of the early Daughters of Conference. Since our inception, our girls have: studied Advent, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week and personal development topics such as peer pressure, self-esteem, and bullying; prepared care packages for the sick and shut-in mothers of the church for Mother’s Day; raised more than $3,000.00 for sick children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; given joy baskets to the sick and shut-ins in the Oatland, Browns Ferry, Dunbar and Choppee communities at Thanksgiving and Christmas; provided toiletry items to Mothers of the Church for Mother’s Day; and, blessed our church family with cards and candy canes at Christmas.
