<div><br />
</div>
<div>Assalamu Alaykom -
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Dawoud Alsayed and my family and I are survivors of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. I humbly ask that you kindly take a few minutes to read our story and learn how your assistance is critical to our tackling the dire challenges we now face after our difficult evacuation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As you all know, the situation in Gaza has forced many of us to leave our beloved homeland in hopes of seeking survival elsewhere. In the case of our family, we were only permitted to evacuate for emergency medical treatment after unimaginable losses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Before the genocide, we were residents of Jabalya refugee camp in North Gaza. After the bombing campaigns began in the North, we fled and sought shelter inside a tent in a Khan Younis displacement camp. After a month of suffering in the camp without adequate shelter, potable water, food, or medicine, my employer (Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders) relocated us to an MSF workers’ family shelter in Al-Mawasi neighbourhood.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On February 20, 2024, our rooms in that same MSF shelter were targeted by an Israeli tank.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My beloved wife Nedaa and our daughter-in-law, my son Eyad’s wife, Maysoon, were instantly killed, may God have mercy on them. Maysoon’s body shielded her children Karam (10) and Waed (5) from harm, praise God. The remaining survivors, my children and grandchildren, were all injured — my young daughters Hala (16) and Aya (20) critically burned; my daughter Fedaa and her 18-month-old twins Farah and Faris injured to various less critical degrees.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

</div>
<div><em>(The aftermath of our destroyed rooms in the MSF shelter in Al-Mawasi)</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The entire neighbourhood was under siege. It took hours for emergency services to be able to reach us due to the military surrounding Al-Mawasi. We attempted to extinguish the fire and care for the injured without them. We soon learned that my children required urgent treatment that was no longer available to us in Gaza, some requiring surgeries for debridement and skin grafting. Due to the extent of their injuries, we are grateful that MSF made the decision to evacuate us to Egypt for emergency medical care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am grateful that my family is now recovering from their injuries without bombs and drones flying overhead. Unfortunately, the human loss of the attack that day was also coupled with the loss of our few remaining belongings and all of the money in our possession. We also received news that our homes in Jabalya camp were completely destroyed.

<div><em>(Our homes in Jabalya refugee camp before and after their destruction)</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have worked endlessly for the past 30 years to provide for my family. My son as well for his family. We are eager to work and provide for them here, too, but work permits are impossible to obtain for evacuees from Gaza at this time. That is why this fundraiser is essential to sustaining a life for our family in Cairo, Egypt or elsewhere.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The carnage that unfolded that day will take us a lifetime to heal from — both physically and mentally. Your contribution will help rebuild the lives of my children and grandchildren as we mourn our closest losses. I want to offer them the safe, stable, dignified futures they deserve. I can only do that with your assistance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The funds raised will be used for the following purposes:</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Apartment rental for two families (~$1500 CAD per month)</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>Living expenses including food, transportation and current medical expenses (~$2000 CAD per month for all six family members)</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>Private school fees until eligible for enrolment to publicly funded online West Bank schools (~$5000 per semester for each school-aged child and one college student = $20000 CAD per semester)</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>Additional living expenses to replace some of our essential belongings, including devices, homeware, clothing.</strong>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am grateful for all of your efforts and contributions towards supporting my family in any capacity you are able. May your empathy and generosity find its way back to you in this life and the next.

</div>
<div>- السلام عليكم
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>يمكنك قراءة المزيد من التفاصيل حول الهجوم هنا (<a href="https://news.sky.com/story/israeli-military-examining-attack-on-gaza-aid-shelter-after-sky-investigation-13098550" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">مقالة سكاي نيوز</a>) وهنا (<a href="https://www.doctorswithoutborders.ca/gaza-msf-strongly-condemns-israeli-attack-on-al-mawasi-shelter/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=grants&amp;s_src=22-SEM&amp;s_subsrc=Google&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwi_exBhA8EiwA_kU1MiAdiu70WQ6ODlBJ2aQn7KAPmQMhHs_jJ-3zsNi3IHC9lAebxT3ZxxoCgzEQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">تقرير منظمة أطباء بلا حدود</a>).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<ul>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
