<div>Just a few weeks ago, Gavin Hewitt was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He turned 17 years old in March of this year, and instead of a carefree summer break and senior year of high school, he is starting his fight with cancer. Gavin has already undergone an extensive surgery, lasting 9 hours, to remove his thyroid and lymph nodes. Unfortunately, they had to go in for a second time to repair a couple of bleeding veins. Luckily, the doctors were able to fix them, and he was able to go home. He has since had the drainage tube removed, and based on what his parents have shared, this has lightened his spirits, and he is smiling.

<div>He will need additional treatment, which will include radioactive iodine treatments to kill the cancer that has spread. The good news is that the doctors have a plan, and Gavin is a fighter. He has been handling this situation better than most adults; always trying to keep a positive attitude.

<div>The Hewitts - Gavin, Bryan, Jenny, Emma and Haley - are so strong, but this is not an easy road ahead of them. They are such an amazing family, who are usually so full of joy, and they have the biggest hearts. The kids normally keep Jenny and Bryan busy with hockey, soccer, and softball. They also enjoy the outdoors, time on the lake, sunsets, and sunrises. Hopefully, they will find the time to do these things throughout the process and continue making wonderful memories and finding the joy. That is where this request comes in.

<div>They are always giving back and helping others, and they deserve all of the love and support that people are able to give. The family did not want to ask for help, so we are doing it for them, with their reluctant permission.

<div>The medical bills are going to be expensive, and there will be a lot of trips to the hospital. If you are willing and able, we are hoping to raise some money to help them get through this without having to worry about all of the bills, including the incidentals like food and gas. Maybe some DoorDash or Uber Eats to ease the load, or whatever they need. With a little assistance, we can help them focus on what is important: getting Gavin better!
