Let’s help the Shaffer Family…

Hi friends, family, strangers, angels,

Garrett had a serious chainsaw accident on the evening of July 7th.

While doing what Garrett does—working hard, he suffered a chainsaw kickback that hit an artery, tendons, nerves, and bone. Yes, you read that right. It was bad. Really bad.

Thank God Mackenzie (his amazing wife and a registered nurse) was home and there. She literally kept the blood from gushing out and drove him like a bat outta hell to the hospital—saving his life while out running the cops. (I’m proud of that one lol) He was life-flighted to Pittsburgh, had emergency surgery to repair the artery, and now has partial movement in his fingers. He is stable and alert but in a lot of pain. There’s a long road ahead—multiple surgeries, therapy, and a huge pile of medical bills.

If Garrett knew I was setting this up, he’d probably try to chainsaw his way out of the hospital just to stop me. He’s humble, proud, and would never ask for help, even while literally bleeding out—he still managed to say (in agony), “How much is that gonna cost?” Classic Garrett.

But the truth is:

He’s a hardworking dad of three, a loving husband, and one of the most decent, big-hearted humans you’ll ever meet. He’s will try and go back to work way too soon—because that’s who he is. But right now, he and Kenzie need a break from the stress. We have all been hit with “life so I know ya get it” if you don’t you are blessed. So if you feel called to help—even just to share this page—it would mean the world to all of us. If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart (and from his severed artery). Every dollar helps relieve the pressure and keep this sweet family afloat while Garrett heals.
