My name is Frank de la Cruz, and I have just been accepted to United Theological Seminary to pursue a Master of Divinity in Interreligious Chaplaincy. Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support to people of all religions as well as to people of no faith in a loving, non-judgmental way in places like hospitals, schools, workplaces, hospices, and nursing homes. You can think of a chaplain as a caring guide for spiritual and emotional well-being, wherever people may be experiencing stress, change, or crisis.

<div>My goal for the remaining years on this earth is to be that person. A friendly smile. A kind hand. A caring heart. Over the last fifteen years, I have come to believe that everyone deserves love, compassion, and kindness, especially in times of crisis.

<div>As I wrestle with my current health issues, which will be resolved in the next year or two, I want to prepare myself to enter into this service of Chaplaincy. The first step is schooling. I’ve applied and been accepted to a robust, accredited master’s program that will prepare me for work as a Chaplain.

<div>Now, I ask YOU to help me in this endeavor. I’ve been able to secure scholarships for about 40% of tuition. Which, in itself, is a blessing. But I’m in desperate need to raise the money for the remainder. I, in turn, commit to excelling in the program to earn merit-based scholarships in future trimesters, potentially.
