My name is Ashley and I am raising money for my daughter Francesca (AKA Frankie) who recently won first place in the Rhode Island Skills USA competition. Frankie now has the opportunity to compete nationally in Atlanta on June 22-28th with other Chariho CTC winners. However, the cost of the trip is not totally covered by the school, so students were asked to get some help to fund the trip.

With 4 kids, we will help as much as we can, but whatever we can do to help Frankie and her classmates get to Atlanta, we will do it. Frankie has overcome so much adversity. She was diagnosed at the age of 7 with ADHD and a working memory disability, which often go hand in hand. Of course, doctors recommended meds for a few years, which caused horrible side effects in our sweet girl. After the age of 13, when asked, "What med of the 4 made you feel the best?" Frankie said, "No meds, Mom." So we have honored that. She has not been medicated since then. Every inch of school she has powered through with coping strategies and the help of amazing teachers who have supported her through her struggles.

Now Frankie is graduating and ready for college, which is a huge achievement. Skills USA is the first step. Winning Skills Rhode Island has boosted her confidence and has helped her realize that anything is possible.
