Sunday, August 24th, we took my 23-year-old daughter to the hospital with a swollen stomach and bad stomach pain, thinking it might be a blockage or something like appendicitis. We were so not prepared for the news we received. After going through a CT scan and basic blood work, the doctor came in and broke the news that she has ovarian cancer. They admitted her right away to draw the fluid off her stomach; they ended up removing over 5 pounds of fluid. They sent it off for testing and ran more tests and scans on her, and the results showed a mass the size of a large cantaloupe that's attached to all of her female organs and is stage 3. They have already scheduled surgery for September 11 at 7 am to remove the mass, plus all her female organs, omentum, possibly her appendix and part of her spleen, and put in her chemo port for chemotherapy afterwards. They're trying to get ahead of it before it progresses further and can spread to any more of her organs. We've applied to get medical for her, but right now she isn't covered, and we need help with the costs of her medicines, appointments, travel, food, and other necessities. My baby girl is fighting the hardest and scariest battle of her life and needs all the encouragement, prayers, and help to get her through.
