Support for Virginia Coe

    This fundraiser is on behalf of Virginia Coe, known to her friends as VA. In October 2023, VA began experiencing unexplained nausea and vomiting. When her symptoms did not resolve as expected, she went to her primary care doctors and initial work-up was without alarm. A CT scan was obtained as symptoms were ongoing. Much to the surprise of everyone, results were concerning for stage IV ovarian cancer. Biopsy confirmed low- grade serous ovarian cancer. Chemotherapy was started promptly.

    Anyone who knows VA would attest to her infectious, welcoming laugh and warm hugs. Her heart is one of a kind and is always willing to help, often at disregard for herself. VA, a dedicated nurse at Duke University Hospital since 2006 and a beloved nurse practitioner in cardiothoracic surgery since 2019, has spent her life taking care of her patients. What many of you may not know is she also takes care of her brother and aging mother. Now she needs our help.
