<div>On a rainy evening last week, I met a Venezuelan family in the parking lot of a local Walmart. Over the last year, <strong>they walked from Venezuela to El Paso, Texas </strong>where they caught a bus to Denver. (<em>With their permission, we have shared their photo above.</em>)

<div>When I met them, <strong>they had recently arrived in Denver and had no place to stay.</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>Since that time, we have helped them move into an apartment, obtain some basic furnishings and groceries, and are gradually finding ways to build a community around them.
</div>

</div>
<div>The father is looking for work, and my friends and I are enjoying our time with them as they start to adjust to life in a new and unfamiliar country.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have spent $1,900 thus far to help cover the costs for a hotel, groceries and apartment furnishings, and I will utilize the donations to reimburse myself for the expenses I have already incurred. Any additional funds will be used to cover future expenses incurred by the family until they are able to survive without our assistance.
