Hello Family & Friends,
I am reaching out to you because we have Reyna Gil as a mutual friend, and we are devastated to share that Mr. Nery Gil (Reyna’s Dad) passed away on Friday, April 19 in Edmonton. He was the most amazing husband; father, brother, son and friend who was loved by many. Mr. Gil was always positive and always put his family first.
As most of you know Mr. Gil and his wife Mrs. Reyna Reyes de Gil came to Canada to spend a couple of months with his daughter Reyna to support her during her recovery after a complicated surgery performed last February in Fort McMurray.
On April 15th, 2019; Nery, his wife, daughter and his son-in-law were traveling to Fort Murray after they spent the weekend with family and friends in between Edmonton and Calgary. Nery started experiencing a bad stomach pain and he suffered a Heart attack requiring emergency assistance and admission to Fort McMurray Northern Hospital. Due to the severity of the situation, he was transported by air ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton for more testing and specialized attention.
After all the tests and procedures to diagnose the cause of the heart attack had been completed, the Cardiologist met with the family. He informed them that the only way to save Nery’s life was through a highly risky surgery that could only be performed at the University of Alberta Hospital, specifically in Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute where the family decided to transport him for the surgery.
On April 16th, 2019, he was transported to have the complicated surgery for a triple bypass and a rupture valve was fixed. The surgery lasted approximately 7 hours. His recovery began in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and we all know that can be a challenging period for the next 24 hours. Unfortunately, during that time there wasn’t enough signs of recovery and complications began. He started to lose vital signs in the next 2 days and had more complications. There after his death was sudden and unexpected on April 19th 2019 at 10:45am.
The Tenias-Gil’s are a good natured and humble family. On behalf of them, I would like to ask for your help to alleviate some of the financial stress that has come from this unimaginable and unplanned situation. Unfortunately, Nery’s insurance coverage is not sufficient to meet all the expenses. Any donations, big or small are greatly appreciated and will go directly to the family for funeral costs or any extra expenses they may have been incurred during this difficult time.
