Support for the Monteiro Family

Dear family, friends, and colleagues of Alacy and Raquel, 

We have created this GoFundMe to support Raquel Monteiro, whose husband, Alacy, has contracted COVID-19 and was receiving ventilator support, in the intensive care unit. Alacy is a father of three young children, an owner of a local Utah Brazilian restaurant, considered young by this virus's standards, and with no underlying conditions- but medical professionals are concerned that he may not survive. 

Raquel, a registered nurse who has been working to fight COVID-19, is now being required to self-quarantine. Because of these circumstances, the Monteiro family now faces both an uncertain prognosis and a considerable financial hardship. It is uncertain whether they will be able to pay his medical and their household bills. Our greatest hope during this scary and uncertain time is for your financial support-whatever you can contribute-to help Raquel and her family out. UPDATE: It's been 21 days since hospitalization. Alacy is doing much better, with help from the medical staff, therapies from PT/OT/ST, and support from his friends and family. Raquel and their children were able to look in through the outside window of Alacy's hospital room. Raquel is no longer in quarantine and we are so grateful to know she was able to return back to work! He is currently extubated, and receiving minimal oxygen support. We are hoping and praying to see further improvement as the days go on. Thank you everyone for your donations, love, and support. Stay safe.
