<div><br />For the past Nine (9) years, we have worked closely with the leprosy communities in Ekpene Obom, Akwa Ibom State and Molai, Borno State, Nigeria; donating medical equipment and supplies, maintaining the shoe factory, providing yearly school supplies, renovating and overhauling a 40 bed dormitory, providing sanitary materials, reading glasses, food, clothing's and instituting a Christmas program to help break stigmatization for the children. Despite the enormous challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, last Christmas we were able to provide food for 40 families at the Leprosy Hospital, Ekpene Obom, Akwa Ibom State Nigeria. The disappointment on the faces of those who were standing in line, but could not get food, because there weren’t enough was heartbreaking . We now have more people living with leprosy who are at the colony seeking refuge and support. It is important, that, we ensure their food availability is secured and self-sustained.<br /><br />The right to food is one of the most basic human rights; unfortunately, the people affected by leprosy, especially the children, go hungry every day.<strong> It Does Not Have To Be This Way!!!. </strong> People suffering from leprosy and their children face thousands of indignities daily. They are stigmatized and ostracized from their communities, do not have access to adequate food or healthcare, and are therefore faced with poor health outcomes . They depend on donations from charity to cover basic needs and for food. Food security is a priority now more than ever, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly for the poorest communities.  <br /><br />Hope's Door Foundation’s mission is to achieve sustainability for these communities. We are doing this through “A Farming Project” to fight food insecurity and hunger, implement programs to educate them on gardening methods, preservation methods, and help them become self-sufficient. This project will harness their skills and enable them to grow their own food, recover from dependency and alleviate poverty.

<div><strong>Our goal is to raise</strong> <strong>$35,000 to acquire the farming land and equipment for mechanize farming,</strong> <strong>for the Leprosy center in Ekpene Obom, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. </strong>Funds raised will go towards preparing and clearing the land, buying varieties of cassava, vegetable seeds, pre-emergence herbicides, fertilizers, Insecticides, agricultural lime, gardening tools, building storage and processing rooms, fencing and paying for labor. Cassava can be processed into several products such as garri, starch, flour, chips, ethanol and glucose syrup, and bread which are all major part of their daily staple.<br /><br />

<div>We may not be able to take the children out this Christmas, but, we want to ensure that EVERY  family receives at least a week's worth of groceries this season to keep our tradition alive.
