Support for the Knapp Family

Donation protected
On Monday, February 3rd the Knapp family was on their way home from a busy day. After picking up Meg's car from the shop they headed to their home in Frederick, MD. Meg arrived home and while waiting for Arik and their 8 year old daughter, Claire, to get home she received a call. They had been involved in a head on collision with a large truck and both were being airlifted to hospitals in DC.   When Meg arrived at Children's Hospital, Claire was being treated for various broken bones, including pelvis, collarbone, ribs, and neck. She also had a deep laceration on her hip. Her prognosis is good, but she has a long road ahead. Because Claire is on the autism spectrum she has a special team working to make her more comfortable. Arik was sent to the Washington Hospital Center located next door to Children's. He was treated for internal bleeding, a laceration on his liver, a head laceration, brain damage, a "shredded spleen," and multiple broken bones. He fought a good fight, but his life was taken as a result of his injuries. Arik served in the United States Coast Guard and was an active reservist out of Sector Delaware Bay. He recently decided not to re-enlist to ensure Claire continues to receive the services she needs in the Frederick area. Arik served his country and his family well. Please consider donating to take some of the financial burden off Meg during this time.
