<div>On June 24, our family experienced a life-changing tragedy when Marika, Luis, Olivia, and Elias were involved in a severe motor vehicle accident.

<div>While Olivia and Elias thankfully sustained only minor injuries, Marika suffered injuries that required her to remain hospitalized in Fort St. John until June 26. The most serious injuries were sustained by 2 year old Luis, who was transported to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, where he will remain for the foreseeable future.

<div>Luis is currently fighting through significant internal injuries, multiple broken bones, and a severe traumatic brain injury. At this time, he remains in an induced coma, and the full extent of his brain injury and long-term recovery journey will not be known until doctors are able to safely wake him.

<div>As the family focuses on Luis’s recovery and supporting one another through this incredibly difficult time, they are facing substantial expenses related to travel, accommodations, meals, lost income, and other unforeseen costs associated with being away from home for an extended period.
