Support for Tatum

***Update***
Tatum is now 4 days post op and doing quite well. As of earlier today he got to feed again and was one happy boy. The surgeon checks in on him everyday and says he's doing well. He still has a long road ahead and we're praying the operation he had works for him. Time will tell. Again we'd like to thank everyone for the ongoing support and prayers. Please continue to pray for our sweet Tatum as he recovers.

***UPDATE*** Tatum had surgery yesterday morning (Saturday) and is now recovering in hospital with 24/7 nurse coverage. His pain is being controlled but he will have food withheld for 2-3 days after surgery so his bowel can heal. Mike,  Shauna and Pyper are now at the Ronald McDonald house. They got to see him yesterday and he is doing well. They want to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone who donated, prayed and sent love to them. Their appreciation is beyond words. I too want to thank each and everyone of you who donated, shared the post and sent love. We reached the goal in less than 48 hours so thank you!!


My very good friend Shauna and her husband Mike McKee are living every parents worst nightmare. Their baby is sick and needs immediate surgery to help him get better. I’m starting a gofundme account for them because financial burden should be the last thing they need to worry about right now. Any donation is greatly appreciated as well as positive vibes and prayers. Tatum is a tough lil guy, let’s help him as much as we can :)

This is Tatums Medical Journey:
After a routine blood test it was evident that something was wrong with the way Tatums liver was functioning. He was admitted to Victoria hospital for further testing and evaluation by a local paediatrician. After reviewing his blood tests and ultrasounds the paediatrician advised that Tatum was being sent to university of Alberta stollery children's hospital where he would meet with a Gastroenterology specialist for further testing in hopes of getting a diagnosis. After numerous tests and biopsys they confirmed Tatum has biliary atresia. This is a rare liver disease that affects 1 in 50,000 babies born. It is a childhood disease of the liver in which one or more bile ducts are abnormally narrow, blocked, or absent. It can be congenital or acquired and is a birth defect in newborn infants. Tatum requires a surgery called the Kasai procedure to help get the bile out of his liver. The surgery is good but not perfect and there is a chance he will still need a liver transplant at some point in his life. Tatum has been in hospital for one week already with his length of stay still unknown. After discharge Tatum will need to be back in Edmonton frequently for necessary follow up. He will live with this disease for the rest of his life and will continue to have follow up care by specialists. Due to these medical issues causing unforeseen expenses we are hoping for some help to get Tatum healthy so he can live a relatively normal life. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
