Stacy Peace Needs Our Help

Donation protected

Thirteen-year-old Stacy Peace is a true survivor.  Stacy has Holt-Oram Syndrome, a rare genetic condition which affects 1 in 150,000 people. It is characterized by skeletal abnormalities in the upper limbs and can cause problems with the heart. Enduring twelve open-heart surgeries, Stacy was placed on the national heart and double lung transplant list at age 9. In order to buy her some time until she reaches the required age for the transplants, Stacy was fitted with a pacemaker.
A few months ago, Stacy’s mother, Angela, was informed Stacy needed an open-heart surgery to perform a mitral valve replacement.  This would be her most risky surgery to date with no guarantee of success.  Stacy and her mom drove from their home in St. Petersburg, Florida, for Stacy to be admitted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando for the open-heart surgery on Oct. 1.

Being the fighter that she is, Stacy survived the risky surgery and is on a road to recovery, but she is not out of the woods yet, and will be hospitalized for a month in Orlando.  Angela, who is a hardworking single mother, is staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando until Stacy is released from the hospital. Angela lost her job in Tampa Bay when she told her employer she needs to be with her daughter throughout the surgery and recovery process.
Stacy has a special relationship with Winter the dolphin and the team at Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA).  Winter has shown Stacy that she can fight through by never, ever giving up.  Stacy and her Mom moved to the Clearwater area just to be close to Winter, and the connection became so strong that Stacy’s grades improved dramatically at school.

The CMA team is raising funds for living expenses for Stacy and her Mom during this trying period.  They have enough to worry about, so we want to relieve them of this burden.
Angela and Stacy need support for:

·      Monthly bills

·      Meals

·      Medical expenses after insurance

·      Temporary lodging

·      In-home care when Stacy returns home and Angela returns to work
