Support for Scott

At 21 years old Scott was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma. Since that day he has had a rollercoaster 5 years of battling cancer on and off. Scott has overcome a 20 hour surgery to remove the original tumor, his bladder, his prostate, part of his bowel and a portion of his hip bone. After the surgery he learned how to walk again and adjusted to a new life style with a few missing organs. Scott has experienced 3 lung resection surgeries over the last 3 years to remove more small tumors.

In May 2017, Scott underwent what should have been a routine day procedure to help clear a small bowel blockage. This procedure tore Scott's bowel open and Scott went into profound septic shock. The doctors requested all his immediate family to the hospital and were unsure if he would make it through the emergency clean up surgery. Today, more than 4 months later, most of the infection in his abdomen has been cleared but he remains on a ventilator in ICU. Because of the degree of Scott's sepsis it caused nerve damage leaving Scott completely paralyzed. The long term effects of this are still unclear and it could take years for Scott's nerves to repair themselves so that he can regain his basic motor skills. Through this GoFundMe page as well as a local fundraiser, we hope to raise funds to help offset some of the costs that are not covered and to help with the rehab that he will most definitely need.

Scott is a wonderful, happy, kind hearted young man who has taken on cancer with more grace and determination then I have ever seen. Scott is a striving journalism student who was just two weeks from graduation when he found himself in the ICU. Scott wrote a wonderful article about his journey with cancer and I encourage you to read it here. http://spokeonline.com/2017/02/living-with-cancer/

Please help us help Scott.  We are so thankful for everyone's support and of course all donations of any amount!
